Message from the President

Dear Plavan Families,

What an exciting start we’ve had to the school year! It has been wonderful seeing our campus buzzing with energy, and we’re so grateful for the support of our amazing families.

Our Welcome Back Event was such a fun way to kick off the year! We loved seeing students, parents, and staff come together to celebrate the start of school. Soon after, Back-to-School Night gave us a great opportunity to connect with teachers and learn more about the year ahead. Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and helped make both events such a success.

As we move into October, we look forward to continuing this momentum together. Our PTO has some exciting activities and events coming up, and we can’t wait to share them with you. Thank you for being an important part of our school community and for all you do to support our students and staff.

Past Events

Membership Drive Results

Thank you to everyone who supported PTO by purchasing membership! After a month-long drive, the RESULTS ARE IN! The winners of the class ice cream parties are Ms. Benson (upper grade) and Mrs. Madden+Ms. Andrews (primary)!

Overall, we sold over 200 memberships and teacher sponsorships! The funds raised will go directly back to our students by enriching their school experience. This includes opportunities such as field trips, assemblies, new classroom supplies, family events, and special programs throughout the year.

Hyundai Hope on Wheels Color Run

We had an amazing time running for a cause at the Hyundai Hope on Wheels Color Fun Run and 5K! Plavan Panthers showed up strong representing our school! Thank you to everyone who participated and helped raise money for both pediatric cancer research and Plavan PTO. Your energy and support truly made a difference. We have less than a week left of our Charleston Wrap Fundraiser! As of this morning, we have earned a total of $2012 towards our $3,000 goal. So close! Be sure to share your child's link with friends and family! Fundraisers like these provide students with enriching assemblies, field trips, community events, staff support, and so much more! Shake Shack Dine-Out (Outdoor Ed)

Wednesday, October 8th: Enjoy a delicious dinner or sweet treat while supporting Plavan PTO! Show this flyer or mention "donation day" at checkout. Shake Shack will be donating 25% of total meal purchase to Plavan PTO's 5th Grade Science Camp!

Barnes and Noble Book Fair

Support 5th Grade Science Camp by shopping at Barnes and Noble from October 15- October 19. A portion of all sales will be donated to Plavan Outdoor Ed. Be sure to mention that you are with Plavan at checkout!

This is a perfect opportunity for your student to pick out some new reads for our annual read-a-thon coming soon!

Islands Dine-Out

Mark your calendars! On Tuesday, October 22, skip the cooking and join us for a fun Dine-Out Night at Islands! Bring your family and friends and enjoy a delicious meal while supporting PTO. A portion of the proceeds will come right back to benefit our students! Be sure to present this flyer to your server.

Trunk-or-Treat 2025

Join us on Thursday, October 30th for a free, fun, and safe way to celebrate Halloween! We still need volunteers to decorate their trunks for this event. Click on the flyer to sign up your trunk!

We Need Your Help!

We will need several volunteers to help make Trunk-or- Treat run smoothly. If you are interested in volunteering, click the link below to sign up. Please review the volunteer guidelines HERE and make sure you are cleared by the front office to volunteer. You can stop by the district office on October 2 from 1pm-3pm for a free TB screening!

🎤 Calling All Ghouls & Goblins… We Need an Emcee!

Do you have a boo-tiful voice and love keeping the crowd alive (muhaha)? We’re on the hunt for a spirited emcee to host our PTO events—someone who can charm the crowd, announce activities, and keep the fun hauntingly high. If you’re ready to be the “spirit” of our events, contact us at president@plavanpto.org.

Trunk-or-Treat Food Sale

The Outdoor Ed Committee is serving up something delicious at Trunk or Treat and we need your help! Please consider donating items linked below to support the 5th grade science camp. Extra fun if your treats are Halloween-themed! 🕸️👻 Thank you for helping make this event delicious and successful. *No homemade items, please.

Teacher Conferences

Teacher Conferences are coming up October 13–17 and our Hospitality team will be providing snacks to keep our amazing staff fueled throughout the week. Please keep an eye out for an email coming soon with a Sign Up Genius link where you can volunteer to bring in items. Thank you in advance for helping us show our teachers how much we appreciate them!

Volunteer Opportunities

There are so many ways to get involved and support our school! Volunteering doesn’t always mean big commitments. It can be as simple as calling or emailing local businesses for donations, making copies, or helping with small tasks that make a big difference. We encourage you to check out our website for current volunteer opportunities and see how you can lend a hand. Please remember that all volunteers must be cleared through the front office if they are going to be working on campus.
