January Newsletter
Message from the President

Happy New Year, Plavan families!

We hope you enjoyed a restful winter break filled with time to recharge, reconnect, and ease into the new year. As we settle back into our routines, PTO is excited to kick off January with some fun opportunities to come together and support our school.

This month, we’re looking forward to Pins 4 Plavan, a family-favorite event, as well as our 7 Leaves Café dine-out happening at the end of the month. These are easy and fun ways to support Plavan while spending time with friends and family.

Thank you for your continued support, and here’s to a wonderful start to the new year!

Sincerely,

Becky Obregon

PTO President

IMPORTANT REMINDERS- 5TH GRADE
5th Grade Science Camp

Fifth Grade Science Camp is quickly approaching, and we are working to ensure every 5th grade student has the opportunity to attend and fully participate. To cover the cost of camp, we are requesting suggested student donations of $450, due by January 23. Reaching our goal is critical to making science camp possible for all 5th grade students. If your family is able to contribute, we kindly encourage donations by the January 23 deadline. Thank you for your support in creating a meaningful and memorable experience for our 5th graders.

Read-A-Thon Success!

Thank you, Plavan families, for making our Read-A-Thon a huge success! Together, we raised $16,159, surpassing our $15,000 goal. Because of this incredible achievement, students earned some exciting rewards including an extra recess, pajama day, and a popsicle party. Our highest earners will also have the chance to silly string Mrs. Ruiz! To top it all off, Mrs. Ruiz will have to wear a blow-up costume for the day.

In addition to these school-wide prizes, we have several individual and class winners that we will be announcing soon. Thank you for supporting reading and our Plavan community!

Volunteer Opportunities

There are so many ways to get involved and support our school! Volunteering doesn’t always mean big commitments. It can be as simple as calling or emailing local businesses for donations, making copies, or helping with small tasks that make a big difference. We encourage you to check out our website for current volunteer opportunities and see how you can lend a hand. Please remember that all volunteers must be cleared through the front office if they are going to be working on campus.
