Dear Plavan Families,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year!

My name is Kyle Ruiz, and I am honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Plavan Elementary School. I’m truly excited to join this vibrant, dedicated community and begin this new chapter together.

Plavan Elementary is proud to be recognized as a California Distinguished School, a reflection of the outstanding efforts of our students, teachers, staff, and families. What makes Plavan truly special is the strength of our community. Together, we create a warm, supportive environment where all children are known, valued, and encouraged to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

At Plavan, we believe in nurturing the whole child. This means focusing not only on academic success, but also on character development, creativity, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. It takes a strong, united team to do this well, and we are fortunate to have such a meaningful partnership among our teachers, staff, and families.

Each year, the Plavan community selects a theme to inspire and guide us throughout the school year. For 2025–2026, our theme is "Reach for the Stars." As we set our goals and look ahead with optimism, this theme reminds us to aim high, support one another, and strive for excellence in all that we do.

One of the best ways to stay connected and support your child’s experience is by getting involved with our wonderful PTO. Thanks to their dedication, students enjoy enriching events such as Trunk or Treat, Movie Nights, Multicultural Week, the Jog-A-Thon, and many more. These moments help build friendships, create joyful memories, and strengthen the sense of belonging that defines our school. If you're new to Plavan or haven't yet had the chance to participate, we warmly encourage you to get involved. It's a great way to connect and make a difference.
